Root Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX (MAC / Linux)

The root method for the Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX on OSX or Linux is a one command process created by Dan Rosenberg that requires no knowledge of ADB to complete. If you are not an Android expert these instructions to root the RAZR on a MAC or Linux machine are perfect for you.

How to Root the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX (Linux / OSX):

  1. Download and extract the Exploit (Download Link)
  2. Put your RAZR (MAXX) in USB Debugging Mode “settings -> applications -> development”
  3. Plug your RAZR (MAXX) into your Computer via USB
  4. Make sure your device is in “Charge Only” mode
  5. Open the directory you extracted the exploit into from Terminal
  6. Run the “run.sh” file
  7. Congrats your Droid RAZR (MAXX) is Rooted!

  1. I just purchased a Razr Maxx today an tried this method on a Mac 10.7.3 in Terminal and it wouldn’t root my phone. Is it cause they updated it and this method doesn’t work? I dont need the drivers do I seeing that ‘m on Mac? Also I have USB debugging and Charge Only settings on.
