Unlock Nexus S 4G Bootloader

Unlock your Nexus S 4G Bootloader so that you can install ClockWorkMod and other custom Bootloaders using the following instructions.  Please make sure you read all steps and take your time to be sure its done correctly.

Instructions to Unlock the Bootloader on the Nexus S 4G

  1. Install the Android SDK on the root Drive of your computer (C:/android/)
  2. Run the SDK Manager and update everything
  3. Reboot your Computer
  4. Put your Nexus S 4G in Debugging Mode (Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging)
  5. Plug your phone into the computer via USB
  6. Download the PdaNet Desktop Client and install it
  7. When it asks if you need the driver reinstalled select that
  8. Choose Samsung and click OK
  9. Reboot your phone into the bootloader (hold Volume Up)
  10. Navigate to the platform-tools folder of the android SDK and type “fastboot oem unlock” (of course without the quotes)
  11. Congrats your Bootloader is now unlocked

This was found to work for others but never tested by us.  This being said you follow these instructions at your own risk.

  1. im on step 10 and when i open adb from the platform tools folder, it open up adb very quickly, runs a script and closes very fast. so i can’t type fastboot OEM unlock from there.

    so i use my computers cmd and run fastboot oem unlock and it doesn’t recognize it. when i type adb devices it doesn’t recognize my device either.

    any help please, thanks you
