Sometimes we just want to download the apk from Google Play for whatever reason but there is no direct download link. Here we will show you that its as easy as using Google Chrome, an extension and a simple command on your Android device. Sometimes the files may be too large and your trying to save data and maybe you just want it so you can load it on a device that may not show up due to compatibility. No matter what your reasoning you can easily download Google Play APK’s using the method below.
- Make sure you have Google Chrome installed on your computer as the only method we know of requires a browser extension for Chrome.
- Save and install the “APK extension downloader” to your computer as Google has blocked auto installation of the extension directly in the browser.
- Download and Install “Device ID” on any one of your Android devices and run it to find your devices ID for the plugin
- Enter the JID(email address associated with your device) and Device ID into the Chrome extension.
- Go to Google Play and find the app you want to download the apk for and click the extensions icon to download the chosen apk.
Video of the process will be available at some point soon.
Only free app apk’s can be downloaded using this method and this is not a way for you to start pirating paid apps. This being said its still against Google Play’s terms of service so use it at your own risk.
You agree not to access (or attempt to access) Google Play by any means other than through the interface that is provided by Google, unless you have been specifically allowed to do so in a separate agreement with Google.
We have successfully tried the plugin and downloaded a few apk’s to see if everything worked. You will need to take note that you will need the device ID of a compatible phone or tablet to download the apk in some cases. Basically what we are saying is that if the apk doesn’t download using the extension you may need to use a friends Device ID to try again. This being said we did download a few apk’s that said they weren’t compatible with the device we used. Let us know via comments below if you have used the extension and the outcome.
