HTC has been a major focus of Apples patent infringement cases from the beginning. Apple has been suing every Android OEM in the courts and HTC seems to be in the crosshairs again. On Friday an International Trade Commission judge agreed that HTC did violate two of Apples patents.
The two patents that HTC is accused of violating are not HTC specific features but general Android features. This could mean that this one win could ensure that Apple can start a long list of patent infringement suits against other Android device manufacturers.
HTC made the following comment before they had a chance to review the ruling:
“We are highly confident we have a strong case for the International Trade Commission appeals process and are fully prepared to defend ourselves using all means possible,”
Apple has tried to ban the imports of HTC and Samsung devices until the patent suits are finalized. This injection has yet to be enforced although with the history of suits being won by Apple since March of this year we can only hope that the bully known as Apple will have no such luck.
