The Motorola Photon 4G has a very annoying and loud shutter sound when taking a picture on the device. You can remove this sound very easily although it does require root access. There is an app called “Enforced Stream Silencer” that quite simply turns your camera sound on and off with a checkbox and nothing else within the app.
How to turn off the shutter sound on the Photon 4G:
- Root your Motorola Photon 4G (Root Instructions)
- Set your Photon to allow Unknown Sources (Settings -> Applications)
- Download and install “Enforced Stream Silencer” (Download Link)
- Run the App and select the checkbox to silence the camera shutter
- Go to your Camera app and take a shot
- Enjoy the Silence!
This was brought to us courtesy of motojl123 over at the Motorola Forums. We aren’t sure why Motorola made the shutter sound on the Photon so loud and without the ability to turn it off although its nice to have people like motojl123 that are willing to help us use our phones the way we should be allowed.
This app works great, thanks! Although I just downloaded the app, no rooting necessary. (Photon)
Awesome! The App works as promised. I agree with Kate that it worked great even on my unrooted phone. You may want to update the article.
Thanks!
