Unlock the Motorola Droid 3 Bootloader

Currently there is no way to unlock the Motorola Droid 3 bootloader although Motorola has promised a method by the end of this year. This being said we will be looking for this method soon since the Atrix will be getting its bootloader unlocked this month with its Gingerbread update.

If there is a bootloader unlock released by anyone in the Android community before the official one is released we will post it here. We are watching you XDA 🙂 … we can only assume XDA Developers will be the ones with it if ever available.

UPDATE: I have to apologize for this post as it seems that Motorola will never release a method to unlock the Droid 3 bootloader.  They did open up a site to unlock bootloaders on their devices although the Droid 3 has yet to make that list.  We have also been made aware that the Motorola Droid 3 is the most returned device ever in Verizon’s history .  What this means is that those that happen to keep the device will likely not get much support from the Android community since anyone that loves Android has likely already returned or replaced theirs by now.

XDA actually had a thread all about how to return your Droid 3 so that you could still get your upgrade from Verizon without having to buy a new phone outright.  We don’t have the link but are saying just the same, if you have a Droid 3 do a little research and get rid of it as Verizon will likely not support it and Motorola has shown they arent going to up until now as well.
