Family Feud Android App Overview and Review

Family Feud Free Android App Overview and Review

Family Feud is now available for Android devices and allows you to easily play with your friends and family via Facebook connections. The game acts and looks like the TV show and allows its players to play the three rounds of questions and if you win play the fast money round.

Family Feud for Android Features:

  • Social game play with Facebook friends, and the ability to follow personal and friends’ progress via daily high score rankings.
  • Favorite elements from the TV show, including thousands of survey questions, ‘Fast Money’ play, authentic theme music and the familiar scoreboard in dazzling HD.
  • Predictive text input and auto spell checker to make typing answers lightning fast.
  • Challenge your friends! Whoever gets the highest score after 24hrs gets bonus cash

Game Play within the Family Feud Android App:
When playing the game you are answering questions within a time limit to try and get the top answers for each. Levels are based on the original TV show allowing you to play three rounds each with a multiplier. Once you win (if you win) then you get to play the fast money round to try and score at least 200. If you lose the first three rounds you can use one coin to play fast money anyways. If you do not get the 200+ points in the fast money round then you can ask Facebook friends to help you out and get a $1000 bonus if they complete it.

How to Play Shows each day:
You will get an option to spin a slot machine style game and get coins once each day for free with additional spins costing you $.99 each. You will always get a minimum of 3 coins with each spin with a chance of more. When you pay for a spin you get a multiplier as well in the fourth column. What these coins are used for is playing a show or fast money round even if you lose. Games cost 2 coins and fast money round if a loser costs 1 coin.

How to Get Free Coins in Family Feud:
You can get free coins within the Family Feud for Android game by either your daily spin or by downloading apps that they have available in game. After each show you will see an advertisement to download an app for coins. In most cases you get 1 coin for each app you download. There is also a way to see all available promotions for free coins within the app. You can also send invites to friends and get a coin for every friend that joins via your link.

Family Feuds Social Game Play:
Currently the social features within the Family Feud app are the ability to compete in a daily challenge with your friends should they accept. The daily challenge means you verses a friend and whoever has the highest score for a single game wins extra cash towards levels the following day. The second social feature is the ability for you to ask friends to help you with the fast money round if you aren’t able to get the 200+ yourself. When a friend completes the fast money round they will get the rounds total points and you will get a $1000 bonus towards your next level.

Leveling up in Family Feud:
In order to gain levels when playing Family Feud for Android you will need to make money. Each level will be shown at the top left of your screen and the amount you need to gain a level will be shown there as well. Each time you gain a level you will get free coins towards playing another round. The higher your level the more coins you will get each time.

Drawbacks to Family Feud for Android:
Each game as stated above costs coins to play, these coins are rather expensive. The only version available is fermium meaning you cannot just pay for a paid version and play all you want but rather have to pay for coins if you want to play more than the free version allows. You cannot pay to remove ads either which are shown at the end of every game.

Overall Family Feud for Android is a great time waister that is a lot of fun. The game itself does not consume a lot of your time unless you are willing to pay to continue playing more than a game or two each day. I recommend downloading the game and at least giving it a shot.

EAD-R10 mini Pico Projector for Samsung Galaxy Devices

Samsung EAD-R10 Galaxy Mini Pico Projector

Samsung has announced the EAD-R10 a new projector specifically designed for their Galaxy series of Android smartphones and tablets. With the recent release of the Galaxy Beam which has a projector built in we knew it was only a matter of time before they designed something for other devices to use as an accessory. In this case the EAD-R10 is a dedicated Pico Projector that does not require a specific device just those in the Galaxy series of devices.

While the projector is only available in South Korea for the time being it easily connects to your Galaxy device using a micro USB/MHL cable adapter. This will allow you to stream movies, YouTube video’s and games through the projector to any wall or surface you like. The projector has a native resolution of 640×320 but can be scaled up to 720p easily. There is also a 1650 mAh battery that should let you get through a movie easily. Some of the other features that you will see with the EAD-R10 projector is its built in loud speakers and office file support.

As we stated before the EAD-R10 is only available in South Korea but weighs in at a pretty nice $220 price point. Those of you that own Galaxy devices like the S III and Note may find this to be something well worth the money when its available in the US and abroad.

Google Nexus 4 gets CyanogenMod 10.1 Custom ROM

CyanogenMod 10.1 on the Google Nexus 4

Google’s new Nexus 4 now has a nightly build available for CyanogenMod 10.1. Here at Android Advice, we love CyanogenMod and it is easily the most popular custom ROM for Android devices at this time. CyanogenMod is lightweight and incredibly fast in comparison to other ROM’s with unparalleled support. If you are looking to customize your Google Nexus 4 then CM 10.1 is the perfect solution.

NOTE: To install CyanogenMod 10.1 on your Nexus 4 you will need to have the bootloader unlocked and the device rooted. Root Instructions: How to Root the Nexus 4

There are two things to keep in mind when choosing to flash CyanogenMod 10.1 to your brand new Nexus 4. First is that the Nexus 4 is already a pure Google Android experience meaning that the speed increase will be minuscule to say the least. Second is the fact that the current version of CM 10.1 is a nightly build and not a stable release (yet) so speed is not a priority and there may be a few minor bugs and hardware issues.

Features CyanogenMod 10.1 will Add to your Nexus 4:

  • Trebuchet Launcher
  • Profiles
  • Performance Tweaks
  • Custom Themes
  • Customization options for notification LED’s

Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S Factory Images Released by Google

Google Nexus Factory Images

Google has decided it was time to release the source code for a few of their Nexus devices on Sprint and AT&T. Samsung just recently released source for their Galaxy S III Mini, Galaxy Note II and Galaxy Tab devices. Now its Google’s turn with source codes released for a few of theirs.

The devices that Google has released factory images for are the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint with Android 4.1.1 available, as well as Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus S 4G images for Android 4.1.1. Apple claims Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 infringes their Patents

Apple Samsung Lawsuit patent infringement

Big surprise, Apple has filed another patent infringement suit against Samsung now claiming the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Jelly Bean software are both in violation. Yes, Apple claims that Samsung has infringed on their patents with Jelly Bean which isn’t even their software.

This comes after the October 1st ruling by Judge Lucy Koh that rescinded the ban on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1. After that ruling Apple still objected the ban that is still lifted. We can only assume that Apple is holding a grudge and trying to continue litigation as a defensive move at this point.

Keep this in mind, Apple is suing for patent infringement on features that their devices don’t even use. One of the newer cases is also so low that its focus is on the fact that Samsung devices are able to use a stylus.

Judge Grewel declined to make a preliminary ruling for fear of either company filing any more lawsuits. This should slow down the slew of lawsuits by both companies already seen by the trial date of 2014. This suit is a waste of time at this point since the impact on sales will be minimal if anything by 2014.

Kaspersky Labs Claim Android 2.3 Gingerbread Most Attacked OS

Lookout Mobile Security

Kaspersky Labs has released a report claiming that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread is the most attacked OS by malware. Kaspersky more specifically names Android 2.3.6 as the major target for malware and trojan SMS software. The only redeeming statistics for Gingerbread is the malware mods over the last year have dropped from 14,923 to 9,130, showing a move in the right directing for malware detection. Kaspersky has also stated that the newer versions of Android have little to worry about right now when it comes to virus and security related attacks.

If you have Gingerbread on your device you may never run into a problem, although you can decrease your odds of a malicious attack by simply leaving installations from unknown sources turned off. If you must leave it on because you use something like the Amazon market for apps then you should make it a point to install an antivirus like Lookout Mobile Security.

While Android security has been an ongoing concern for those that want to switch to the popular OS the issue can be avoided. If you have had security issues in the past let us know what it was and how you came about it (if you know).

Android 4.2 Keyboard APK Available (Download)

Android 4.2 Keyboard

There is already an APK and flash-able zip available to install the Android 4.2 keyboard on Android devices. Before you get too excited though you need to be sure that your device runs at least Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for this to work properly.

Android 4.2 Keyboard APK (Download)
Installing via the apk does not require root access on your device. If you are using a stock Samsung, HTC, Sony, etc. device then the apk should install without any issues. If by chance you are using a stock Google keyboard then you may run into the issue of the apk not installing. You can give it a shot no matter what and your worst case will be the apk just doesn’t install. If this is the case then you will need to use the flash-able file below.

Android 4.2 Keyboard Flash-able (Download)
If you cannot get the apk above to install on your device then you will need root access to your device. In this case you will want to backup your current keyboard before flashing the new one since it will replace it. The backup is solely for the event that you don’t like the new keyboard and want it back to the way it was. We recommend just backing up the entire ROM before flashing.

Once you have installed the new Android 4.2 Keyboard please let us know via comments below what device and file you used to help others know the option to choose for their device.
