Samsung has been pretty good about getting the source files out to users/developers to easily make changes and/or recover their devices. We will likely see many new ROM’s and improvements as well from the release of the source files. Samsung announced the source files for the Samsung Galaxy Note for the following models:

Use these files how you wish and please let us know what your doing with them if anything other than recovery. You should also keep in mind that many developers can use these source files to improve apps and even create apps that integrate better into the device. This is why we all love Android, the fact that you get source files and make improvements all the time.
Google may be behind Android but the community and open source nature is the reason for its incredible growth and stability. We will see Android continuing to improve much faster than other mobile operating systems for the shear reason that development is not done by just one large company but by a community of tens of thousands.
